ABOUT ME ... A Grade 'A' Driving Instructor
l love driving. Since passing my test first time at the age of 17, I have always aimed to improve my skills rather than fall into the 'bad habit' category.
Somewhat unusual for someone that age, you may say? But having no driving offences or a single point on my licence since passing my test, speaks for itself!
I currently train in a 2021 Ford 1 Litre Eco sport petrol manual gear transmission but I have driven everything from old Moggy's (Morris Minor) right up to the latest luxury 4x4 manual and automatic gear transmission.
Since the age of 18 I have been self employed running various businesses and have raised two wonderful sons. I didn't start to teach people to drive until 2007, this was an unexpected career change which I have not regretted, it felt so natural and satisfying, that I wondered why I had never considered it much earlier in my life.
Since then I have trained: beginners, refreshers, international, advanced drivers, taxi drivers, private hire, chauffeurs and Fleet Industry helping small businesses reduce their fuel and vehicle repair outgoings (which I no longer do but can pass you onto colleagues who practice fleet training.
I particularly enjoy teaching pupils with learning difficulties such as; Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Attention Defecit problems. Every pupil is an individual so a different teaching approach is applied to suit the pupils needs. I make sure they are relaxed and feel no pressure.
I am a member of RoSPA (Royal Society for prevention of accidents) and SADDSA regularly attending meetings and contribute to helping improve services for local ADI's and pupils. I have also been a guest on the SADDSA Dipod (Driving Instructors Podcast).
I continuously aim to improve my skills and have a hunger for knowledge. I attend training courses, seminars, meetings, workshops and regularly sit in to observe trainers in other categories of driving.
Continued Professional Development is something that an
ADI must do to keep up to date, in order to be a
worthy driving instructor as well as being regularly check
tested by the DVSA.
